It looks like an appFull screen, no address bar, your own icon on the home screen.
It opens fasterOne tap from the home screen instead of typing an address every time.
Nothing to installNo app store, no account to set up, no updates to approve. It's just a shortcut.
iPhone and iPad
You must be in Safari for this. Apple only allows it there — Chrome, Firefox and Edge on an iPhone can't add to the home screen.
- Open app.ghostlight.au in Safari.
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow coming out of the top. It's at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone, and the top right on an iPad.
- Scroll down the list of options and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add, top right. The GhostLight icon appears on your home screen.
Android
These steps are for Chrome, which is what most Android phones use. Samsung Internet is slightly different — see below.
- Open app.ghostlight.au in Chrome.
- Tap the menu — three dots, top right.
- Tap Add to Home screen. Depending on your phone it may say Install app instead — they do the same thing.
- Tap Install or Add to confirm.
Samsung Internet
- Open app.ghostlight.au.
- Tap the menu — three lines, bottom right.
- Tap Add page to, then Home screen.
If it isn't working
I'm on an iPhone and there's no "Add to Home Screen"
You're almost certainly not in Safari. Chrome, Firefox and Edge on an iPhone look similar but can't do this — Apple doesn't let them. Copy the address, open Safari, and try again.
On Android I can't find "Install app"
It's often worded Add to Home screen instead, and it can sit a little way down the menu. Either wording gives you the same result.
How do I know it worked?
Open it from the new home screen icon. If the address bar is gone and it fills the whole screen, you're in the installed version.
Do I need to do this on every device?
Yes — it's a shortcut on that particular phone or tablet. Your actual data lives in your account, so everything is there whichever device you sign in on.
Does it work without internet?
Not yet. GhostLight needs a connection, the same as it does in a browser — so a signal-free corner of the storage shed is still a signal-free corner. Working offline is something we're building towards.
Will it update itself?
Yes. Because it's the website pinned to your home screen, you get new versions automatically — close it and reopen it to pick one up. There's nothing to download and no app store to approve anything.
Stuck on it?
